MODIS reflective solar bands calibration improvements in Collection 6

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
Since launch, Terra and Aqua MODIS have performed more than 12 and 10 years of scientific measurements of the Earth’s surface. MODIS has 36 spectral bands, among which 20 are Reflective Solar Bands (RSB), covering a spectral range from 0.41 μm to 2.1 μm.

In-flight measurements of space count in the AVHRR solar reflectance bands

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
The solar reflectance bands (SRB) of the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometers (AVHRR) flown onboard NOAA satellites are often referred to as non-calibrated in-flight. In contrast, the Earth emission bands (EEB) are calibrated using two reference points, deep space and the internal calibration target.

On Orbit Calibration of Ocean Color Reflective Solar Bands

2014
Abstract The on-orbit calibration program for ocean color sensors involves both methodologies of tracking the instrument radiometric response over time through solar and lunar observations and the vicarious calibration, or tuning, of the instrument calibration against in situ data sources.

Initial on-orbit radiometric calibration of the NOAA-20 VIIRS Reflective Solar Bands

Earth Observing Systems XXIII, 2018
The NOAA-20 Visible Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) includes several on-board calibration sources for on- orbit radiometric calibration. In the Visible/Near Infrared (VISNIR) and Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) bands, the on- orbit radiometric calibration is carried out by using a reference called Solar Diffuser (SD).

Cross-Calibration of the HSI Sensor Reflective Solar Bands Using Hyperion Data

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2015
This paper describes a methodology that uses Hyperion imagery as reference data to calibrate the Chinese Hyperspectral Imager (HSI) onboard the HJ-1A satellite. Two test sites near Dunhuang in Gansu and in Inner Mongolia were used for the cross-calibration.

Quantifying the Relationship Between Intersensor Images in Solar Reflective Bands: Implications for Intercalibration

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2014
Satellite instruments have acquired large volume images at different spatial, spectral, radiometric, and temporal resolutions. Reliable detection of long-term environmental change requires critical sensor intercalibration destined to minimize inconsistency in these multisensor images.
