The effect of differential refraction on wave propagation in rotating pulsar magnetospheres

open access: yes, 2004
Refraction of wave propagation in a corotating pulsar magnetospheric plasma is considered as a possible interpretation for observed asymmetric pulse profiles with multiple components. The pulsar radio emission produced inside the magnetosphere propagates

Implications of Atmospheric Differential Refraction for Adaptive Optics Observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Many adaptive optics systems operate by measuring the distortion of the wavefront in one wavelength range and performing the scientific observations in a second, different wavelength range.

Understanding and measuring mechanical signals in the tumor stroma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review discusses cancer‐associated fibroblast subtypes and their functions, particularly in relation to extracellular matrix production, as well as the development of 3D models to study tumor stroma mechanics in vitro. Several quantitative techniques to measure tissue mechanical properties are also described, to emphasize the diagnostic and ...

Wave Trajectory Study on the Coast of Lhoknga, Aceh Besar, Indonesia: A Numerical Model Approach

open access: yesCivil Engineering Dimension, 2018
A numerical model of wave trajectory using shoaling and refraction formula was proposed in the coastal waters of Lhoknga, Aceh Besar, Indonesia. The developed model used a two dimensional (2D) numerical methods for wave trajectory with the input of wave ...

Construction of hyperthermostable d‐allulose 3‐epimerase from Arthrobacter globiformis M30 using the sequence information from Arthrobacter psychrolactophilus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
d‐Allulose can be produced from d‐fructose by d‐allulose 3‐epimerase. Based on sequence homology information, we successfully engineered thermostable mutants with the protein engineering method. By integrating positive mutations, we constructed an enzyme that exhibits hyperthermostability without a loss in the activity.

Controlling Refraction Using Sub-Wavelength Resonators

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
We construct metamaterials from sub-wavelength nonmagnetic resonators and consider the refraction of incoming signals traveling from free space into the metamaterial.

The impact of the air temperature on measuring the zenith angle during the year in the ground layer of the atmosphere for the needs of engineering surveying

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2021
This paper presents the results of over a year-long experiment dealing with a temperature measurement to calculate the theoretical effect of the atmosphere on the measured zenith angle in engineering surveying.

Law of refraction for generalised confocal lenslet arrays

open access: yes, 2013
We derive the law of generalised refraction for generalised confocal lenslet arrays, which are arrays of misaligned telescopes. We have implemented this law of refraction in TIM, a custom open-source ray tracer.Comment: 4 pages, 3 ...

Biophysical characterization and ion transport with cell‐based and proteoliposome reconstitution assays of invertebrate K+‐Cl− cotransporters

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The K+‐Cl− cotransporters (KCCs) facilitate the symport of ions across the plasma membrane. They participate in physiological processes including neuronal regulation. Here, we characterized KCCs from Drosophila and Hydra vulgaris. Comparative analyses of transporters provide insights into the mechanism of KCC ion transport, regulation, and evolution ...

MODELING PROCESS OF DISTRIBUTION OF LIGHT FLOW IN THE ENVIRONMENT WITH DIFFUSING CENTERS

open access: yesФизико-химические аспекты изучения кластеров, наноструктур и наноматериалов, 2019
A mathematical model is developed for calculating parameters of light fluxes propagating through a light-scattering and absorbing medium. Single crystals of paratellurite and germanium with known optical parameters and densities of various absorbing and ...
