Assumption-free estimation of the genetic contribution to refractive error across childhood [PDF]
Purpose: Studies in relatives have generally yielded high heritability estimates for refractive error: twins 75–90%, families 15–70%. However, because related individuals often share a common environment, these estimates are inflated (via misallocation ...

Background Assessing refractive errors under cycloplegia is recommended for paediatric patients; however, this may not always be feasible. In these situations, refraction has to rely on measurements made under active accommodation which may increase ...

Low‐Loss Far‐Infrared Surface Phonon Polaritons in Suspended SrTiO3 Nanomembranes
The low‐loss, highly confined, and thickness‐tunable surface phonon polaritons are demonstrated in the far‐infrared regime within transferable freestanding SrTiO3 membranes, achieving high figures of merit comparable to the previous record values from the vdW materials.

This research investigates an electro‐active chiral optical response (EACOR)‐driven dual‐channel metasurfaces with fast electrical switching rates of 52 ms, and a low operating voltage of 0.5 V. The combination of polyaniline (PANI) thin film and the exceptional topological (ET) phase of chiral gold (Au) meta‐atoms modulate holographic images through ...

Wavelength and Refractive Indices from Interferometry [PDF]
PASCO scientific 012-05187C Precision Interferometer is used in Michelson mode to investigate wavelengths and refractive indices. From varying the distance of the movable mirror in the Michelson setup the wavelength of the HeNe laser beam is found to be $630.6\pm7.9~\mathrm{nm}$; $0.28$ sigmas away from the accepted $632.8~\mathrm{nm}$ and agreeing ...
