Castable Refractories Based on Zircon
Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, 1971Castables based on zircon sand were made and their physical properties were determined after various heat treatments. It was found that zircon sand can be used as an aggregate material in castables with good results.

Silicon carbide refractory castables
Refractories and Industrial Ceramics, 2005Optimum formulations for castables intended for different service conditions are proposed. Silicon carbide castables containing ultradisperse particles of cement, silica fume, and electrofused corundum are developed. The castables do not weaken on heating and display superior operational properties: the compressive strength is 40–80 MPa at sintering ...

This work provides a new binder system, i.e., nano-lakargiite (NL) [CaZrO3] for unshaped refractories. NL powder formulation is done through a green and facile route, i.e., solution mixing technique, which is easily capable of recycling the byproducts ...

Binders for Refractory Castables: An Overview
Interceram - International Ceramic Review, 2020Abstract: A binder for refractory castables is a bonding material that bonds a loose powdery mix, retains its shape after casting and allows the cast shape to set and harden for handling and further processing. A binder also improves sintering, as the castables are not compacted during shaping, causing poor densification and strength.

The Use of Refractory Castables in the Ferrous Metallurgy
Refractories and Industrial Ceramics, 2003Products commercially available from the Ogneupornye Tekhnologii Joint-Stock Co. are described and their physicochemical characteristics presented. Results for refractory castables tested under industrial conditions are presented and compared with those of foreign analogs.

Thermal Conductivity of Refractory Castables
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1963Thermal conductivity measurements were made on various refractory castabales of both dense fireclay and high‐alumina types as well as on several insulating castables. These tests, covering mean specimen temperatures of 200° to 2000°F, indicated how the thermal conductivity of a castable material varies with thermal history.

Corrosion resistance of refractory castables in dynamic conditions
NOVYE OGNEUPORY (NEW REFRACTORIES), 2022Tests of corrosion resistance of refractory castables to borosilicate glass melt under dynamic conditions were carried out. A method for calculating various indicators characterizing the glass resistance of a refractory exposed to glass melt is presented. On the basis of the data obtained during the tests, the rates of linear corrosion of the submerged

Calcium Aluminate Cement and Refractory Castable
Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, 1993Monocalcium aluminate and calcium dialuminate were prepared by heating different mixes of CaO and Al2O3, at 1400° and 1600°C respectively, evidence of which was found by X-ray diffraction study. Castables were made from the mixes of CA and CA2 in specific proportions, hydrated by keeping immersed in water and subsequently tested for strength.Hydrated ...
