Multiwavelength Analysis of an Active Region

open access: yesSolar Physics, 2006
We study active region NOAA 8541, observed with instruments on board SOHO, as well as with TRACE. The data set mainly covers the transition region and the low corona. In selected loops studied with SUMER on SOHO, the VIII 770 A line is systematically redshifted. In order to estimate the plasma velocity, we combine the Doppler shifts with proper motions

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Region Analysis and a π-Calculus with Groups [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Functional Programming, 2000
We show that the typed region calculus of Tofte and Talpin can be encoded in a typed π-calculus equipped with name groups and a novel effect analysis. In the region calculus, each boxed value has a statically determined region in which it is stored.
