The Influence of Freeze-Thaw Cycles on the Mechanical Properties and Parameters of the Duncan-Chang Constitutive Model of Remolded Saline Soil in Nong’an County, Jilin Province, Northeastern China

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
In seasonally frozen areas, physical and mechanical soil properties change dynamically under the effect of the freeze-thaw cycles (FTCs), which is a problem that cannot be ignored in geotechnical engineering.

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Beyond unimodal regression: modelling multimodality with piecewise unimodal regression or deconvolution models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Shape constraints enable us to reflect prior knowledge in regression settings. A unimodality constraint, for example, can describe the frequent case of a first increasing and then decreasing intensity. Yet, data shapes often exhibit multiple modes. Therefore, we go beyond unimodal regression and propose modelling multimodality with piecewise unimodal ...

Elucidating prognostic significance of purine metabolism in colorectal cancer through integrating data from transcriptomic, immunohistochemical, and single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

Modelling Changes in Volatile Compounds in British Columbian Varietal Wines That Were Bottle Aged for Up to 120 Months

open access: yesBeverages, 2019
This research quantified 46 volatile compounds in vintage wines (1998−2005) from British Columbia (BC), which had been bottle-aged for up to 120 months. Wines were analyzed up to five times, between December 2003 and October 2008.
