Meshless Model for Wave-Induced Oscillatory Seabed Response around a Submerged Breakwater Due to Regular and Irregular Wave Loading

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
The evaluation of wave-induced seabed stability around a submerged breakwater is particularly important for coastal engineers involved in design of the foundation of breakwaters.

A mathematical model for Tsunami generation using a conservative velocity-pressure hyperbolic system

open access: yes, 2008
By using the Hugoniot curve in detonics as a Riemann invariant of a velocity-pressure model, we get a conservative hyperbolic system similar to the Euler equations. The only differences are the larger value of the adiabatic constant (= 8.678 instead of 1.

Magnetic susceptibility of alkali-TCNQ salts and extended Hubbard models with bond order and charge density wave phases

open access: yes, 2011
The molar spin susceptibilities $\chi(T)$ of Na-TCNQ, K-TCNQ and Rb-TCNQ(II) are fit quantitatively to 450 K in terms of half-filled bands of three one-dimensional Hubbard models with extended interactions using exact results for finite systems.

Experimental Observation of Resonance-Assisted Tunneling

open access: yes, 2015
We present the first experimental observation of resonance-assisted tunneling, a wave phenomenon, where regular-to-chaotic tunneling is strongly enhanced by the presence of a classical nonlinear resonance chain. For this we use a microwave cavity made of

TRANSMISSION OF REGULAR WAVES PAST FLOATING PLATES

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1974
Theoretical solutions for the transmission beyond and reflection of waves from fixed and floating plates are based upon linear wave theory, as put forth by John (1949), and Stoker (1957), according to which the flow is irrotational, the fluid is incompressible and frictionless, and the waves are of small amplitude.

Approximating the Added Resistance Coefficient for a Bulk Carrier Sailing in Head Sea Conditions Based on its Geometrical Parameters and Speed

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2016
The article presents the mathematical function to calculate the added wave resistance transfer function for bulk carriers. Based on this function, the statistical mean added wave resistance generated by an irregular head wave with arbitrary statistical ...

Hydrodynamic Response of Hybrid FOWC-BBDB Wave Energy Converters Using SPH

open access: yesJournal of Eta Maritime Science
To evaluate the longevity and performance of point-absorber wave energy converters (WECs), it is crucial to understand their response to extreme sea conditions. However, data on their hydrodynamic behavior under such stresses is limited.

Experimental study on multi-level overtopping wave energy convertor under regular wave conditions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2018
A multi-level overtopping wave energy converter was designed according to the large tidal range and small wave heights in China. It consists of two reservoirs with sloping walls at different levels.

Regularity of the attractor for symmetric regularized wave equation

open access: yesCommunications on Pure & Applied Analysis, 2005
In this article we study the long time behavior of the solutions to dissipative generalized symmetric regularized long wave equations with damping. We prove that the long time behavior is described by a compact attractor which captures all trajectories in $ H^1\times L^2$. We moreover establish that the attractor $\mathcal A$ is a compact set in
