"Regulate the Regulator"

open access: yesPolitical Science Undergraduate Review, 2021
As the 2008 Financial Crisis caused global markets to contract, and people across the United States and the world suffered the costs, there has been a growing and significant body of literature investigating the relative culpability of different financial actors and institutions in perpetrating the 2008 crisis.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

A Man as the Regulator in Man-Machine Systems

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2014
The aim of the paper is to present the role of the human element in regularly used man-machine systems (MMS). From the technical point of view, it is possible to denote the human being and the machine as two components of one system.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

High impact pressure regulator withstands impacts of over 15,000 g [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
High impact pressure regulator used with a high impact gas scannograph withstands impacts of over 15,000 g. By the passage of fluid through the first and second chambers of the regulator, the pressure of the scannograph is regulated from a specific input

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Stabilization of Robots With a Regulator Containing the Sigmoid Mapping

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Actuators nonlinearities are unknown external perturbations in robots, which are unwanted because they can severely limit their performance. This research is focused on the stabilization of robots subject to actuators nonlinearities with a regulator ...
