Intrinsic Reinnervation—Myth or Reality?

Journal of Hand Surgery, 1993
A clinical and electromyographic study of major nerve transections at the wrist in 22 patients has shown that electrical recovery nearly always occurs in the intrinsic muscles, despite the absence of clinically detectable function. There appears to be a level of electrical reinnervation above which clinically detectable intrinsic muscle power is ...

Macroelectromyography in reinnervation.

Muscle & nerve, 1983
Macroelectromyography is used to study the electrical activity of the entire motor unit. The amplitude of the motor unit action potential (MUP), recorded from a bared cannula, is dependent on the number and size of muscle fibers in the motor unit. In most situations of reinnervation the local fiber density (FD) as recorded with single fiber EMG, and ...

Laryngeal reinnervation in the horse

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Equine Practice, 2003
Left laryngeal hemiplegia is a frustrating condition for the equine athlete and equine veterinarian. Treatment for the past 30 years has centered on the prosthetic laryngoplasty ("tie-back") with or without ventriculectomy. Laryngeal reinnervation has been used successfully in people and has been shown experimentally to benefit affected horses.

Reinnervation aspects of laryngeal transplantation

European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1998
Although restoration of laryngeal function after laryngeal transplantation depends on appropriate reinnervation, non-selective reinnervation procedures result in synkinesis and poor function restoration. This study was performed to test the feasibility of selective reinnervation procedures to restore laryngeal function.

ELECTROMYOGRAPHIC PATTERNS IN REINNERVATED MUSCLE

Archives of Neurology And Psychiatry, 1950
EXTENSIVE reports are available concerning the action potentials occurring in normal and denervated muscles.1A few investigators have reported the electromyographic changes during the process of reinnervation following section and suture of peripheral nerves.

A Reinnervating MicroRNA

Science, 2009
A microRNA expressed in skeletal muscle promotes the regeneration of neuromuscular synapses after injury and in a neurodegenerative disease model.

Collateral reinnervation of sweat glands

Annals of Neurology, 1984
AbstractThe collateral reinnervation of mouse sweat glands has been studied by a method that allows serial evaluation of the course of reinnervation in intact animals. The method is based on the finding that the activation of secretion from newly denervated sweat glands by pilocarpine or nerve stimulation is completely absent seven days after nerve ...

Muscle‐Nerve Pedicle Laryngeal Reinnervation

The Laryngoscope, 1986
A muscle‐nerve pedicle implantation to the lateral cricoarytenoid muscle as described by Tucker is an alternative to Teflon® injection for treating dysphonia due to vocal cord palsy. Improvement in voice was noted in 19 of the 20 (95%) selected patients who were treated by muecle‐nerve pedicle reinnervation.

REINNERVATION OF THE CORNEAL GRAFT

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1978
Corneal graft reinnervation was studied in 45 patients. The reinnervation was correlated to donor/recipient compatibility (HLA and ABO).The sensitivity tended to be normal about 12 months after transplantation.
