Permeability anisotropy and relative permeability in sediments from the National Gas Hydrate Program Expedition 02, offshore India

open access: yesMarine and Petroleum Geology, 2019
Gas and water permeability through hydrate-bearing sediments essentially governs the economic feasibility of gas production from gas hydrate deposits.

Transforming magnets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Based on the form-invariant of Maxwell's equations under coordinate transformations, we extend the theory of transformation optics to transformation magneto-statics, which can design magnets through coordinate transformations.

Application of Artificial Neural Networks for Predicting Relative Permeability in Talang Akar Formation [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Relative permeability is a substantial parameter for estimating multi-phase fluid flow in porous rocks. It is a complex physical property that is influenced by the behavior and interactions between the fluid and rock phases.

The negative index of refraction demystified

open access: yes, 2002
We study electromagnetic wave propagation in mediums in which the effective relative permittivity and the effective relative permeability are allowed to take any value in the upper half of the complex plane.

Experimental study on gas-water relative permeability characteristics of broken coal and rock mass

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2023
In order to explore the relative permeability characteristics of gas-water in the crushed coal rock mass around the drilling hole of gas extraction, the gas-water coupling permeation test system of the crushed rock mass was used to carry out the gas ...

Observation of Brewster's effect for transverse-electric electromagnetic waves in metamaterials: Experiment and theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We have experimentally realized Brewster's effect for transverse-electric waves with metamaterials. In dielectric media, Brewster's no-reflection effect arises only for transverse-magnetic waves. However, it has been theoretically predicted that Brewster'

Influence of Clay Wettability Alteration on Relative Permeability

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2020
Understanding the wettability of porous materials is important to model fluid flow in the subsurface. One of the critical factors that influences wetting in real reservoirs is the composition of geologic materials.

Relative Permeabilities of Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Laminated Rock Samples under Hydrostatic and Triaxial Stresses

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, 2010
Production performance of a hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir is vital and largely controlled by certain reservoir rock and fluids intrinsic properties. Therefore, realistic measurements of reservoir rock properties under simulated in-situ stress-state are ...

The Bean-Livingston barrier at a superconductor/magnet interface

open access: yes, 2005
The Bean-Livingston barrier at the interface of type-II superconductor/soft-magnet heterostructures is studied on the basis of the classical London approach.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
