Pose Estimation of a Known Texture-Less Space Target using Convolutional Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Orbital debris removal and On-orbit Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing [OSAM] are the main areas for future robotic space missions. To achieve intelligence and autonomy in these missions and to carry out robot operations, it is essential to have ...

Accurate Covariance Estimation for Pose Data From Iterative Closest Point Algorithm

open access: yesNavigation, 2023
One of the fundamental problems of robotics and navigation is the estimation of the relative pose of an external object with respect to the observer. A common method for computing the relative pose is the iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm, where a ...

Geometry Depth Consistency in RGBD Relative Pose Estimation

open access: yesCoRR, 2023
Relative pose estimation for RGBD cameras is crucial in a number of applications. Previous approaches either rely on the RGB aspect of the images to estimate pose thus not fully making use of depth in the estimation process or estimate pose from the 3D cloud of points that each image produces, thus not making full use of RGB information.

Monocular Relative Pose Estimation Pipeline for Uncooperative Resident Space Objects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
This paper aims to present a deep learning-based pipeline for estimating the pose of an uncooperative target spacecraft from a single grayscale monocular image. The possibility of enabling autonomous vision-based relative navigation in close proximity to

An Uncertainty Weighted Non-Cooperative Target Pose Estimation Algorithm, Based on Intersecting Vectors

open access: yesAerospace, 2022
Aiming at the relative pose estimation of non-cooperative targets in space traffic management tasks, a two-step pose estimation method, based on spatially intersecting straight lines, is proposed, which mainly includes three aspects: (1) Use binocular ...

Content based image pose manipulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This thesis proposes the application of space-frequency transformations to the domain of pose estimation in images. This idea is explored using the Wavelet Transform with illustrative applications in pose estimation for face images, and images of planar ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Multiple Master-Slave FPGA Architecture of a Stereo Visual Odometry

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Estimating relative camera pose is the key problem of visual odometry (VO). To achieve better efficiency, sparse key-points are usually relied on for the estimation.
