The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

On relatively normal spaces, relatively regular spaces, and on relative property (a)
The following results concerning relative topological properties are proved: (1) A regular (Tychonoff) space \(Y\) is normal in every larger regular (Tychonoff) space if and only if \(Y\) is Lindelöf or normal almost compact. (2) A functionally Hausdorff space \(Y\) is regular in every larger functionally Hausdorff space if and only if \(Y\) is compact.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The Qom school and a critique of religious pluralism with special reference to Ayatollah Javadi Amoli's philosophical analysis [PDF]
In the past few decades, the school in the historic city of Qom has played an important role in directing strategic scientific and cultural developments in Iran and the Islamic world. Scientific and research work in this school has been going on for more

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Planck-Scale Soccer-Ball Problem: A Case of Mistaken Identity
Over the last decade, it has been found that nonlinear laws of composition of momenta are predicted by some alternative approaches to “real” 4D quantum gravity, and by all formulations of dimensionally-reduced (3D) quantum gravity coupled to matter.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Relative and Pseudo-Relative Clauses in Slovene [PDF]
The author explores the various types of relative clauses in Slovene, focusing on a construction that has traditionally been assumed to be a special type of relative clause in which there seems to be a mismatch between the number feature of the clitic pronoun and that of the relative head, e.g., Najboljši iskalec si, [RC kar smo jih imeli.]1 best-Nom ...
