Packaging of Macroscopic Material Payloads: Needs, Challenges, Concepts, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review introduces a unified framework that decomposes any macroscopic packaging system into the payload, packaging material, and packaging strategy and combines them into a conceptual packaging equation: packaging strategy = payload + packaging material.

First principles based atomistic modeling of phase stability in PMN-xPT

open access: yes, 2011
We have performed molecular dynamics simulations using a shell model potential developed by fitting first principles results to describe the behavior of the relaxor-ferroelectric (1-x)PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3-xPbTiO3 (PMN-xPT) as function of concentration and ...

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Comparison of polarization switching in ferroelectric TGS and relaxor SBN crystals

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2013
The comparative experimental analysis of polarization reversal kinetics in conventional homogeneous triglycine sulfate (NH2 CH2 COOH)3 ˙ H2SO4; TGS) and relaxor strontium barium niobate (Sr0.61Ba0.39Nb2O6; SBN) crystals have been performed in a broad ...

New, Lead Free, Perovskites With a Diffuse Phase Transition: NaNbO_{3} ~ Solid Solutions

open access: yes, 2002
Some of (1-x)NaNbO_3-(x)ABO_3 perovskite solid solutions exhibit a dramatic diffusion of the dielectric permittivity epsilon' maximum and relaxor-type behavior when the second component concentration exceeds a threshold value x_0. The concentration phase

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.
