New methodology for evaluation of non-pilot relay distance protection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Distance relays are typically used in transmission line protection. Their accuracy depends on the correct relay parameterization, phasor estimators, and correct usage of distance characteristics. Identifying suitable relay parameterization and algorithms

Understanding the Catalytic Determinant role of Diaphorase‐Like Subunit in Formate Dehydrogenases via Redox Couples

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A unique mechanism of catalytic bias regulated by diaphorase‐like subunit in formate dehydrogenase from Rhodobacter aestuarii is revealed. The diaphorase‐like subunit functions act as a biological “voltage rheostat” that controls the slow release of NADH to regulate redox balance, biasing the enzyme's catalytic preference toward CO2 reduction over ...

3‐Deoxy‐3‐Fluoro Mannuronic Acid Alginates: Stereoselective Automated Synthesis and Conformational Behaviour

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The impact of C‐3 fluorination on the synthesis and conformation of alginate oligosaccharides is investigated. A C‐3‐fluoro mannuronic acid building block is generated and shown to react with high β‐selectivity. Automated glycan assembly enables access to uniquely fluorinated mannuronic acid alginates where deoxyfluorination is shown not to perturb the

Stiffness‐Activated Stellate Cells Drive Pancreatic Cancer Liver Colonization via GMFG‐TNS4 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fibrotic liver stiffness activates hepatic stellate cells through Piezo1‐dependent calcium influx and ER stress, promoting EV‐associated GMFG release. Delivered GMFG engages TNS4 in pancreatic cancer cells, triggering FAK/AKT signaling, adhesion, and fatty acid synthesis.

Cobalt‐Catalyzed Radical Ligand Transfer (RLT) Enables Remote‐Markovnikov Hydroamination of Alkenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A cobalt‐catalyzed remote‐Markovnikov 1,3‐hydroamination of allyl carboxylates proceeds through MHAT, 1,2‐radical acyloxy migration (1,2‐RAM), and radical ligand transfer (RLT) from a Co‐N intermediate, providing protected amino alcohols. ABSTRACT Amino alcohols are prevalent in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and functional materials, yet ...

Beyond Potency: Emerging Determinants and Optimization Strategies Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy of Adult Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Adult stem cell therapy requires more than high in vitro potency. This review proposes a systems framework in which cell‐intrinsic programs, instructive microenvironmental cues, and pre‐/post‐delivery engineering are co‐designed under standardized translational rules.

Protograph EXIT Analysis over Block Fading Channels with Application to Relays

open access: yes, 2012
An accurate extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) analysis is developed for protograph low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes over the block fading channel (BFC). The analysis is thus exploited for analyzing the behavior of distributed protograph LDPC

Optical Windows for Transcranial Brain Imaging in Living Mice: Skull Thinning, Clearing, and Beyond

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Longitudinal, noninvasive in vivo imaging is crucial for studying brain physiology. Advances in transcranial optical windows and multiphoton microscopy have improved imaging depth, but their performance often deteriorates over time. This work investigated various transcranial window approaches and found that skull regrowth limits image quality.
