Targeted Enrichment of Engineered Bacteria on Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Turns Immunologically Cold Tumors Hot

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Tumor immunotherapy has garnered significant attention, however, several notable challenges remain to be addressed, including: 1) enhancing active targeting, 2) effectively shielding immune checkpoints, and 3) inducing the transformation of “cold” tumor ...

Chitosan-NVP IPN hydrogels synthesised through photoinitiator-free photopolymerisation technique for drug delivery

open access: yes, 2004
Interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) hydrogels of chitosan with N-vinylpyrrolidinone (NVP) as well as its copolymer with 2 -hydroxyethyl met hacrylate (HEMA) were synthesised through the photoinitiator - free photopolymerisation technique.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Development of Injection-Molded Swellable/Erodible Capsules for Oral Pulsatile Release

open access: yes, 2012
Swellable/erodible hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC)-based capsular devices for pulsatile release were prepared by injection molding (IM) using a purposely-devised mold and a newly set up manufacturing process.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Zero-order drug release obtained with gradient matrix systems based on hydrophilic polymers

open access: yes, 2011
The use of powder layering technology was explored to prepare hydrophilic matrix systems aimed at a zero-order release of drugs. Systems with 5 layers with decreasing drug concentration from the inner to the outer one were prepared by applying powders ...
