Recognition of European mammals and birds in camera trap images using deep neural networks
IET Computer Vision, Volume 18, Issue 8, Page 1162-1192, December 2024.The authors present deep neural network models that can be used to recognise both mammal and bird species in camera trap images. This provides a novel tool to recognise bird species (including non‐vocal ones) in addition to mammal species with a single neural network, which supports researchers in analysing large amounts of camera trap data.
