Borates in Biomedicine: A Retrospective Analysis

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
The graphical abstract displays the molecular structure of boric acid, an hormetic substance with pleiotropic bioactivity. Complementing previous studies describing the use of organoboron compounds as potent therapeutics for use in anticancer, antimicrobial, antiparasitic, and related other pharmaceutical uses, this study focuses on the emerging ...

A comparative study of low‐temperature carbonate formation on natural exopolymers from hypersaline microbial mats and clay minerals

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 3, June 2026.
The data collected during these experiments have shown that carbonates preferentially nucleate on EPS most likely on carboxylic functional groups. The confirmation of preferential nucleation of carbonates on carboxylic groups lends credence to the currently proposed organomineralisation model of low‐T dolomite precipitation.

The influence of fluoride applications of enamel remineralization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Remineralization is an important repair mechanism in the oral cavity and is of particularinterest in the repair of dental caries. In this work enamel remineralization is defined as a deposition of calcium phosphate in enamel defects, leading to at least ...

Improving Essential Oil, Pigments, and Mineral Accumulation in Basil Through Integrated Silicon and Nano‐Fertilizer Treatments in Aquaponics

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Combined Si and nano‐fertilizers enhanced basil growth and biomass. Essential oil, pigments, and mineral content significantly increased. Integrated nutrition improved yield and quality in aquaponic systems. ABSTRACT Innovative agricultural production systems and effective nutrient management approaches are essential to meet an escalating global demand

Remineralization of artificial caries lesions using casein phosphopeptide–amorphous calcium phosphate containing probiotic lozenge: an in vitro study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background Concerns regarding enamel demineralization due to the acidic nature of probiotic tablets have led to investigations into potential solutions. This study aimed to investigate the remineralization potential of probiotic tablets containing Casein

In Vitro Evaluation of Novel Calcium Silicate‐Based and Resin‐Modified Calcium Silicate Materials: Cytocompatibility and Mineralization Potential on Human Dental Pulp Stem Cells for Pulp Repair

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, Volume 89, Issue 6, Page 932-947, June 2026.
This study demonstrates that Biodentine XP exhibits superior cytocompatibility, promotes odontogenic differentiation, and enhances mineralization in human dental pulp stem cells, supporting its use in regenerative endodontics. Resin‐modified materials showed lower bioactivity, highlighting the importance of material composition in pulp therapy outcomes.

Effect of a specially formulated remineralizing solution on the remineralizing capacity of saliva.

open access: yesJournal of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, 1998
The present study was carried out to assess whether the remineralization of artificial caries like lesion by artificial saliva can be improved by daily 5 minute treatment in a specially formulated remineralizing solution containing Ca, P, Zn, Sr, F. Extracted human premolars were dipped for 24 hours in artificial saliva and subsequently daily for 5 ...

Urea provides an important nitrogen source for microbial populations in an ultraoligotrophic sea

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 6, June 2026.
Urea is an organic nitrogen (N) compound directly utilized by both heterotrophic prokaryotes and some photoautotrophs. Reports of either ambient urea concentrations or urea uptake rates from the ultraoligotrophic eastern Mediterranean Sea are lacking. We investigated urea distribution and uptake in the upper water column in the Levantine basin during ...

Hydrological seasonality shapes microbial biomass and diversity in an equatorial estuarine mangrove

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Mangroves are pantropical marine forests rooted in soft sediments and subject to pronounced seasonal variability. However, the effects of these hydrological fluctuations on root‐associated prokaryotic communities remain poorly understood, particularly in underexplored regions like the Guianas.
