Low Remnant Cholesterol and In‐Hospital Bleeding Risk After Ischemic Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Bleeding risk brought by intensive lipid‐lowering therapy and low low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol is concerning, while evidence regarding the relationship between remnant cholesterol and bleeding is frightening.

Maternal lipid profile in early pregnancy is associated with foetal growth and the risk of a child born large-for-gestational age: a population-based prospective cohort study

open access: yesBMC Medicine, 2020
Background Lipids such as cholesterol and triglycerides play an important role in both maternal and foetal energy metabolism. Little is known about maternal lipid levels in pregnancy and their effect on foetal growth.

Small Dense Low‐Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Is the Most Atherogenic Lipoprotein Parameter in the Prospective Framingham Offspring Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2021
Background Elevated plasma levels of direct low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C), small dense LDL‐C (sdLDL‐C), low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) triglycerides, triglycerides, triglyceride‐rich lipoprotein cholesterol, remnant lipoprotein particle ...

Chronic ethanol feeding alters miRNA expression dynamics during liver regeneration. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: Adaptation to chronic ethanol (EtOH) treatment of rats results in a changed functional state of the liver and greatly inhibits its regenerative ability, which may contribute to the progression of alcoholic liver disease.

Remnant cholesterol, stronger than triglycerides, is associated with incident non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2023
IntroductionNon-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is characterized by excess accumulation of triglycerides within the liver. However, whether the circulating levels of triglycerides and cholesterol transported in triglyceride-rich lipoproteins ...

Lipoprotein profiles of fat distribution and its association with insulin sensitivity

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2022
BackgroundFat deposition is associated with adverse outcomes. Waist-to-hip (WHR) ratio is a simple feasible index to assess fat distribution. Lipoprotein particle composition in relation to WHR and to what extent their association is mediated by insulin ...

Discordance between remnant cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol predicts arterial stiffness progression

open access: yesHellenic Journal of Cardiology, 2023
Cross-sectional studies have shown that remnant cholesterol (RC) was associated with arterial stiffness. The present study evaluated the association of RC and the discordance between RC and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) with arterial stiffness progression.Data were derived from the Kailuan study.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
