Web based remote operations on inverters

2009 Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2009
During the late 1990's, a lot of research focused on the area of remote operations for far reaching applications in commercial appliances such as routers, mobile telecommunication devices, and web servers. The field of power generation is still in its initial phases, including hard wiring the control system directly to a machine, allowing the ...

Remote operation of a micro-surgical system

Proceedings. 1998 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.98CH36146), 2002
Describes a tele-micro-surgical system and an experiment in suturing an artificial blood vessel with diameter approximately 1 mm. An experiment was performed on September 25th and 26th, 1997 at an "operation room" and "surgery site" separated by a distance of approximately 700 km. In the experiment the vessel was successfully sutured by a surgeon.

The remote enqueue operation on networks of workstations

1998
Modern networks of workstations connected by Gigabit networks have the ability to run high-performance computing applications at a reasonable performance, but at a significantly lower cost. The performance of these applications is usually dominated by their efficiency of the underlying communication mechanisms. However, efficient communication requires

Remote operations on post production applications

1997
This paper focuses on the problem of rendering post production applications in a distributed environment. This is stressed by the need to limit the concessions that conventional in-house methods force operators to make to the quality of the end-products to get them on time and within budget.

Remote Regulator Operation at Cannington Mine [PDF]

open access: possible
Cannington Mine has installed nine remotely controlled regulators in its underground operation. The expansion of the mining operation caused a need for the improvement of the quality of its ventilation. It was found that an economically viable key to improve the ventilation system was to advance regulator technology.

Performance of MAP in the remote operation of a CNC

IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, 1990
A major issue for the users of the Manufacturing Automation Protocol (MAP) is its performance in servicing time-critical applications. The author describes an experiment in which a computerized numerical controller (CNC) is remotely operated using MAP. A set of critical timing parameters is defined, a performance analysis of the system from the user's ...
