Review: Remotely operated underwater vehicles with autonomous operations

Blucher Engineering Proceedings, 2022
Most actions that Remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) perform are employed by operators, but with the rise of technology making it possible to accomplish autonomous tasks, these vehicles are getting able to perform some actions without human interference. This material is a review of ROVs that are able to execute some autonomous actions. This ...

Underwater Robots: From Remotely Operated Vehicles to Intervention-Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

IEEE Robotics & Automation Magazine, 2019
Remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) revolutionized the subsea industry when they were introduced in the 1960s. They were more powerful and inherently safer, and they could go deeper than divers. However, they require a tether and a support ship, which makes their use complex and expensive.

[Remotely operated underwater vehicles used in water rescue].

Der Unfallchirurg, 2021
The search for and rescue of missing persons is always coupled with a high demand on human resources. In cases of suspected drowning it is often necessary to search huge expanses of water. For depths of more than 3-5 m the search and rescue procedure needs to be performed by specialist rescue divers. Due to saturation with nitrogen caused by the higher

Remotely operated underwater vehicle with surveillance system

2015 International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE), 2015
Remotely operated underwater vehicles or ROVs are underwater robots that are used in science, entertainment, military and offshore oil industries. Their main function is to interact with the environment under the water in various ways. It is a very complicated system and uncommon in the developing or the underdeveloped countries around the world ...

Control of an underactuated remotely operated underwater vehicle

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part I: Journal of Systems and Control Engineering, 2003
In this paper, a steady state model of a thruster and a general equation of rigid-body motion for an underwater robotic vehicle (URV) is presented. By means of modelling, simulation and experiments, the model parameters have been identified. These are used in the analysis and design of closed-loop stabilizing controllers for two control modes: manual ...

Dynamic positioning of remotely operated underwater vehicles

IEEE Robotics & Automation Magazine, 2000
The paper describes an automatic dynamic positioning system for remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) using a mechanical passive arm for position measurement that is suitable for inspection and intervention tasks requiring precise positioning. Good dynamic performance in tracking was also attained, particularly with the variable structure model ...

Low-cost remotely operated underwater vehicle for underwater observation purposes

2017 IEEE 7th International Conference on Underwater System Technology: Theory and Applications (USYS), 2017
This paper is about the development of a low-cost remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) for the observation of underwater environments without risking human life. The overall safety feature focuses on protecting internal circuits from being overloaded by any unexpected high current as well as protecting battery from being over-discharged to ...
