Modeling of Remotely Operated Vehicle

2020
In this chapter, nonlinear dynamic model of an ROV with perturbation due to hydrodynamic forces is discussed. In general, there are two methods to derive the dynamic model: the Lagrange formulation using the energy method and Newtonian’s formulation using the Newton’s Second Law of Motion.

TROJAN: Remotely operated vehicle

IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering, 1986
Following success in remotely operated vehicle (ROV) designs such as MMIM, IZE, SOLO, ORVIL, CIRRUS, PIC, and OBSERVER, Slingsby Engineering Limited (SEL) has now developed its technology to build and prove a new ROV, TROJAN. TROJAN is a dedicated subsea support vehicle, which results from extensive market research being applied to a base of 15 years ...

Challenges for the Remote Operation of Vehicles

2020
No existing automated vehicle can operate in all conditions and environments. In order to allow unmanned operation of automated vehicles in all conditions, many developers have the capability for human drivers to operate the vehicle from a remote location using wireless technology.

Acoustical Underwater Localization of a Remotely Operated Vehicle in Mariculture

2023
Localization of underwater vehicles, namely remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), used in mariculture autonomous inspection applications represents a challenging problem. The need for accurate localization of an ROV is further emphasized by often cluttered underwater environment of fisheries with many ropes and mooring around the net pens potentially ...

Switching Adaptive Control for a Remotely Operated Vehicle

2007 American Control Conference, 2007
This paper considers the tracking control problem for an underwater vehicle subjected to different load configurations, that result in considerable variations of its mass and inertial parameters. Depending on the operative situation, the different possible vehicle configurations could not be known in advance.

Assistive Control Framework for Remotely Operated Vehicles

2018 26th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation (MED), 2018
The paper presents a control framework aimed at supporting a human operator in the guidance and in the coordination of an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). Due to environmental conditions and operational scenarios, underwater tele-operations can be very demanding. Thus, a very high experience can be required to the operator that, by providing

Dynamic positioning of remotely operated underwater vehicles

IEEE Robotics & Automation Magazine, 2000
The paper describes an automatic dynamic positioning system for remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) using a mechanical passive arm for position measurement that is suitable for inspection and intervention tasks requiring precise positioning. Good dynamic performance in tracking was also attained, particularly with the variable structure model ...
