Extremely weakly-supervised blood vessel segmentation with physiologically based synthesis and domain adaptation [PDF]
Accurate analysis and modeling of renal functions require a precise segmentation of the renal blood vessels. Micro-CT scans provide image data at higher resolutions, making more small vessels near the renal cortex visible. Although deep-learning-based methods have shown state-of-the-art performance in automatic blood vessel segmentations, they require ...

The emerging role of cellular senescence in renal diseases [PDF]
Cellular senescence represents the state of irreversible cell cycle arrest during cell division. Cellular senescence not only plays a role in diverse biological events such as embryogenesis, tissue regeneration and repair, ageing and tumour occurrence ...

Adaptive ERK reactivation hinders FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia. Here, we report that FLT3 TKI treatment rapidly induces AXL expression and upregulation that is temporally associated with the adaptive ERK reactivation.

Group 2 Innate Lymphoid Cells Are Redundant in Experimental Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury
Acute kidney injury (AKI) can be fatal and is a well-defined risk factor for the development of chronic kidney disease. Group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) are innate producers of type-2 cytokines and are critical regulators of homeostasis in ...

Dose and Safety of Hypoetes Polythyrsa Miq Ethanol Extract for Dissolving Renal Calculi: an Affordable Medication [PDF]
Renal calculi develops when the urine contains more crystal-forming substances, such as calcium, uric acid and a compound called oxalate. Most renal calculis are calcium-based, usually in combination with oxalate.

Association between urinary sodium, creatinine, albumin, and long term survival in chronic kidney disease [PDF]
Dietary sodium intake is associated with hypertension and cardiovascular risk in the general population. In patients with chronic kidney disease, sodium intake has been associated with progressive renal disease, but not independently of proteinuria.

Pazopanib versus sunitinib in metastatic renal-cell carcinoma.
BACKGROUND Pazopanib and sunitinib provided a progression-free survival benefit, as compared with placebo or interferon, in previous phase 3 studies involving patients with metastatic renal-cell carcinoma.

We assessed the associations between the gut microbiota and outcome in metastatic triple‐negative breast cancer patients treated with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immunotherapy. Our data indicate that high gut microbiota alpha diversity was associated with improved clinical outcome and with benefit from immunotherapy.

Novel Omega-3 Fatty Acid Epoxygenase Metabolite Reduces Kidney Fibrosis. [PDF]
Cytochrome P450 (CYP) monooxygenases epoxidize the omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) docosahexaenoic acid into novel epoxydocosapentaenoic acids (EDPs) that have multiple biological actions.

Oxidant Mechanisms in Renal Injury and Disease.
SIGNIFICANCE A common link between all forms of acute and chronic kidney injuries, regardless of species, is enhanced generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) during injury/disease progression.
