Metastatic renal cell carcinoma initially presenting with hematochezia and subsequently with vaginal bleeding: a case report

open access: yesBMC Urology, 2018
Background We report an unusual case of a synchronous rectal and metachronous vaginal metastatic renal cell carcinoma. Case presentation A 78-year-old woman presented with hematochezia and a colonoscopy revealed a metastatic clear-cell renal cell ...

Double renal cell carcinoma with histological type of clear cell carcinoma and papillary carcinoma in the same kidney concurrently treated with robot‐assisted partial nephrectomy

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, 2022
Introduction The presence of two different histologic types of renal cell carcinoma in the same kidney is rare in clinical practice. This report describes a patient with ipsilateral renal cell carcinomas, consisting of a clear cell renal cell carcinoma ...

MET variants with activating N‐lobe mutations identified in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinomas still require ligand stimulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for

Unusual head and neck presentation of metastatic renal cell carcinoma

open access: yesOtolaryngology Case Reports, 2023
Skull base metastasis from renal cell carcinoma are exceedingly rare. Though renal cell carcinoma often presents at an advanced stage and with metastasis, signs and symptoms of skull base involvement would rarely suggest renal cell carcinoma.

Prognostic significance of CKAP2L expression in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2023
Background: Cytoskeleton-associated protein 2-like protein (CKAP2L) is thought to promote the progression of glioma, breast cancer, and ovarian cancer. However, the role of cytoskeleton-associated protein 2-like protein in clear cell renal cell carcinoma

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Renal cell carcinoma with melanin pigment

open access: yesIndian Journal of Urology, 2010
The incidence of renal cell carcinoma has been steadily increasing. There are several morphological types of renal cell carcinoma. Recognizing histologic patterns of renal cell carcinoma is important for correct diagnosis and subsequent medical care for ...

Intravascular large B‐cell lymphoma in renal cell carcinoma incidentally detected by robot‐assisted partial nephrectomy

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, 2022
Introduction Intravascular large B‐cell lymphoma is a rare and aggressive type of extranodal large B‐cell lymphoma. Although intravascular large B‐cell lymphoma can invade various organs, renal involvement has been rarely reported. Synchronous occurrence

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.

A Case of Sarcomatoid Renal Cell Carcinoma With Osseous Metaplasia and Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma Metastasis

open access: yesClinical Pathology, 2019
Sarcomatoid renal cell carcinoma is an uncommon and aggressive renal tumor with rapid disease progression. A median survival time is only 4-9 months after diagnosis. Osteogenic differentiation is a rare feature of the tumor.
