The FEBS Journal, EarlyView.Adult ascidians are capable of regenerating their entire brains following injury, and glycosaminoglycans have been shown to either promote or inhibit neuritogenesis. In this study, dermatan 2,6‐disulfate (D2,6S) was identified as the predominant complex carbohydrate in the ascidian brain.
