Repetition as Trapped Emotion in Tennessee Williams’s the Glass Menagerie

open access: yesStudia Anglica Posnaniensia, 2016
Repetition as a linguistic and stylistic device extensively used in Tennessee Williams’s plays has been noticed by many. At the same time, more psychologically-inclined scholars have frequently drawn parallels between Williams’s plays and his own ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

WORK RELATED MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS OF THE UPPER LIMBS AMONG STEEL INDUSTRY POPULATIONS

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2007
For high occurrences of upper extremity disorders in working populations and in order to compare the occurrence of musculoskeletal alterations due to ergonomic risk factors such as highly force exertion, repetition, awkward posture between exposed and ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Rezkova věcnost a její techniky

open access: yesFilosofický časopis
The essay reconstructs the notion of “matter-of-factness” (Sachlichkeit, věcnost) in Petr Rezek’s philosophy and its roots in the immanence of our experience – or more precisely, in the tension generated by two requirements that are bound to it: (1) the ...

Car le temps est proche : la crise écologique et l’apocalypse sans cesse annoncée

open access: yesSocio-anthropologie, 2013
The expression “there is still a solution but time is running out” is often found in the reports on the ecological crisis. It is a rhetorical statement which is not scientific, but whose inclusion seems almost mandatory for political reasons.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Some special features of spanish spesch strategy and tactics

open access: yesPolylinguality and Transcultural Practices, 2012
The article is focused on the manner of Spaniard to speak, to conduct dialogue, converting it into the monologue and vice versa. We consider that such features as exaggerated loudness, repetitions of the same words, abuse of superlative degree ...
