Role and Results of Constrained Insert in Computer-Assisted Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Propensity-Matched Study

open access: yesArthroplasty Today
Purpose: Mild ligament imbalance is often encountered in the mediolateral plane during complex primary total knee arthroplasty. A constrained (CP) polyethylene insert compatible with the primary femur is useful to manage these cases without the need to ...

Computer navigation has no beneficial effect on blood loss and transfusion in sequential bilateral total knee Arthroplasty

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery, 2019
Background: Bilateral total knee arthroplasty is associated with significant blood loss. Postoperative anaemia retards patients recovery, and blood transfusion increases the risk for major complications including infection.

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Peritonitis-induced peritoneal injury models for research in peritoneal dialysis review of infectious and non-infectious models

open access: yesRenal Replacement Therapy, 2017
Peritonitis is an important complication of peritoneal dialysis. Several animal peritonitis models have been described, including bacterial and fungal models that are useful for studying inflammation in peritonitis. However, these models have limitations

Machine learning for identifying liver and pancreas cancers through comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis: a case‐control study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel AI‐based diagnostic approach—comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis (CSGSA)—that integrates tumor markers and enriched glycopeptides from serum. Using a neural network model, this method accurately distinguishes liver and pancreatic cancers from healthy individuals.

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

The effects of replacement schemes on car sales: the Spanish case [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper studies a model of car replacement designed to evaluate policies addressed to influence replacement decisions. An aggregate hazard function is computed from optimal replacement rules of heterogeneous consumers, which mimics the hump-shaped ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Rapid reduction in surgical time and high level of accuracy in alignment and femoral component size prediction in robotic‐assisted total knee arthroplasty with ROSA Knee System

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics
Purpose Robotic‐assisted total knee arthroplasty (RA‐TKA) has gained popularity for its potential ability to improve surgical precision and patient outcomes, despite concerns about its long learning curve and increased operative times.
