Obsolescence of Durable Goods and Optimal Consumption [PDF]

open access: yes
We study a model with a durable good subject to abrupt, periodic obsolescence, and characterize the optimal purchasing policy. Consumers optimally synchronize new purchases with the arrival of new durable models.

ADAPTIVE CACHE REPLACEMENT POLICY (ACRP): A DYNAMIC REPLACEMENT POLICY FOR CACHE MANAGEMENT

open access: yesInternational Journal of New Computer Architectures and their Applications, 2014
The discovery of memory access time as one of the major design issues in the processor has increased effort in the development of different cache replacement policies to manage what to be the content of caches in both uniprocessor and multiprocessor. This is to improve the overall performance of the processor.

Heuristically Adaptive Diffusion‐Model Evolutionary Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Building on the mathematical equivalence between diffusion models and evolutionary algorithms, researchers demonstrate unprecedented control over evolutionary optimization through conditional diffusion. By training diffusion models to associate parameters with specific traits, they can guide evolution toward solutions exhibiting desired behaviors ...

Changing Peripheral Intravenous Catheter When Clinically Indicated: First Evidence-Based Practice Project in Makkah, Saudi Arabia

open access: yesEvidence-Based Nursing Research
Context: In the past, it was advised to replace peripheral intravenous catheters every 24 to 96 hours (about four days). Regular catheter removal under a time-based method was utilized for a considerable amount of time to prevent consequences.

THE REAL OPTIONS PUZZLE FOR MICHIGAN TART CHERRY PRODUCERS [PDF]

open access: yes
Capital budgeting decisions faced by tart cherry producers often challenge our traditional valuation techniques. Real Options Valuation (ROV) methods may be useful but assumptions of existing ROV approaches are restrictive and, in some cases, unrealistic.

Hierarchical Summary Statistics Encoding Across Primary Visual and Posterior Parietal Cortices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that mouse V1 simultaneously encodes the ensemble mean and variance of motion, providing a robust summary‐statistic representation that persists despite single‐neuron variability. These signals propagate to PPC, where they are transformed into abstract category representations during decision making.

An Increasing Misalignment Between Crop Distribution and Environmental Resources Under Climate Change in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Climate change reshapes the spatial alignment between crop production and environmental resources. Using multi‐source data and a crop model, integrated climatic, water, and soil endowments for maize and wheat are quantified and compared with harvest distributions.

Competitiveness, productivity and externalization: Food versus autos in Catalonia [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper re-examines the innovation-productivity nexus on the basis of a paired comparison between Catalonia's food and auto sectors. The sectoral studies expose a set of productivity enhancement mechanisms that do not involve innovation in the sense ...

From Pores to Pavement: Advanced Modeling of Aluminosilicates for Scalable Carbon Capture in Concrete

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a transferable modeling framework for carbon capture using aluminosilicates, integrating Universal Isotherm Modeling with experimental data. It reveals how ultramicropores, alumina content, and amine functionalization influence CO2 adsorption energetics.
