Microcloning and Replica Plating of Mammalian Cells

Science, 1970
A technique for cloning single mammalian cells has been developed by means of a microculture method (0.010 milliliters per culture). A technique of replica plating has also been developed for use with clones of single cells in microcultures; this technique permits the screening of desired properties of many clones simultaneously before the growth of ...

A Simple Device for Replica Plating Aquatic Phycomycetes

Mycologia, 1981
that, however, are larger in size, have a stouter perithecial stalk, flatter receptacle cells, and appendages and antheridia that are more numerous and differently shaped. Since Laboulbeniales occurring on many species of Orotrechus are still unknown or belong to the genus Laboulbenia, it does not seem possible, at present, to draw any conclusion about

Replica plating of cultured human cells on polyester mesh

Cytotechnology, 1986
Replica plating, i.e., the production of multiple copies of a pattern of colonies derived from single cells, can now be applied to human cell lines using polyester mesh as a substrate. In searching for somatic cell mutants, often the only means of identifying a mutant clone is an assay that leaves the selected cells nonviable.

Replica Plating

2021
Abstract This chapter describes how Esther Lederberg, in daring to re-purpose her compact makeup pad as a kind of ink stamp, developed the new Replica Plating Technique but later her husband Joshua seemed to claim sole credit for this discovery.

Floating‐loop Replica‐plating Device

Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 1977
The main feature of this device is its ‘floating loops’, which are thin wires formed into loops at one end and mounted in a frame such that the wires are free to move up and down. This feature was incorporated into the ‘applicator’devised by Tarr (1958) for phage‐typing, but has not ...

A Replica Plating Method for Plant Cells

Physiologia Plantarum, 1977
AbstractA replica plating method is described for plant cells growing in Petri dishes. The method involved a uniform application of plant cells (Morinda citrifolia L.) by spraying cells evenly on agar plates containing 60% conditioned medium. Subsequently the cells were allowed to grow through a nylon net.

Biochemical identification of hospital enterobacteria by replica agar plating

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1974
An identification system was developed for enterobacteria isolated frequently from hospital patients, involving a set of biochemical reactions on agar media. The media were inoculated by a replication apparatus also used for setting up antibiotic sensitivity tests.

A Replica Plate Culture Technique

Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 1963
Summary A replica plating technique is described in which cultures are grown on individual agar discs in a Petri dish. Products of metabolism are confined to the discs and colony spreading is restricted.
