Replicate, Replicate, Replicate

2011 Second International Workshop on Replication in Empirical Software Engineering Research, 2011
Replication is a standard part of scientific experimentation. Unfortunately, in software engineering, replication of experiments is often considered an inferior type of research, or not even research at all. In this paper we describe four different types of replication that we have been performing as part of validating the effectiveness and ...

Replication without replicators

Synthese, 2009
According to a once influential view of selection, it consists of repeated cycles of replication and interaction. It has been argued that this view is wrong: replication is not necessary for evolution by natural selection. I analyze the nine most influential arguments for this claim and defend the replication–interaction conception of selection against

Complementary replication

Mathematical Biosciences, 1991
Differential equations for the kinetics of complementary replicating macromolecules in a flow reactor are derived. It is shown that such a model has many features in common with the differential equation for direct replication, the replicator equation. Two special cases of replication, and the influence of mutation on them, have been studied in detail.

Chromatin replication

BioEssays, 1992
AbstractJust as the faithful replication of DNA is an essential process for the cell, chromatin structures of active and inactive genes have to be copied accurately. Under certain circumstances, however, the activity pattern has to be changed in specific ways.

How Replicable Are Links Between Personality Traits and Consequential Life Outcomes? The Life Outcomes of Personality Replication Project

Psychology Science, 2019
The Big Five personality traits have been linked to dozens of life outcomes. However, metascientific research has raised questions about the replicability of behavioral science.

Replicating Tessellations

SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics, 1993
Summary: A theory of replicating tessellation of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) is developed that simultaneously generalizes radix representation of integers and hexagonal addressing in computer science. The tiling aggregates tesselate Euclidean space so that the \((m + 1)\)st aggregate is, in turn, tiled by translates of the \(m\)th aggregate, for each \(m\) in ...

Virus Replication

2003
The effort to understand the molecular biology of rotaviruses (RVs) has led to the development of procedures that can be used to study the replication and transcription of the RV genome, the assembly and structure of the rotavirion, and the structure and function of RV proteins.
