Representation Transformations for Finding Markovian Representations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we consider existing and new representation transformation methods for non-Markovian generalizations of Markov chain driven stochastic models which intend transforming non-Markovian representations into Markovian ones and evaluate their efficiency through numerical experiments.

THE REPRESENTATION OF NATURE: AN ANALYSIS OF THE VIRTUAL REPRESENTATION OF NATURE AND ITS CHALLENGES

open access: yes, 2010
In this thesis, I provide an analysis of the representation within the environmental  movement that is based in critical theory. In considering the paradox which involves the  awareness of an ecological crisis as well as a strong resistance to the ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Built Information Modeling for the 3D Reconstruction of Modern Railway Stations

open access: yesHeritage, 2019
The BIM process applied to the built environment represents a much debated topic in the last decade, but it still contains unanswered questions. National and international frameworks introduced standards mainly focused on the levels of detail definition ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Towards an optimal tone space

open access: yes, 2011
The utility of tones spaces based on tone productions can be judged on the degree to which they (i) differentiate tone productions and (ii) predict tone perception. Here based on a production corpus, 5 different 2-dimensional tone spaces are constructed.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Representation Levels Within Knowledge Representation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Representation of knowledge is used to store and retrieve informational data in a machine. Since meaningcannot be directly stored in the computer; this work proposes a series of levels of representation. The meaning of the data is transformed to a format that the machine can use to store and retrieve knowledge.
