The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

Exploration of Reproducibility Issues in Scientometric Research Part 2: Conceptual Reproducibility [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
This is the second part of a small-scale explorative study in an effort to assess reproducibility issues specific to scientometrics research. This effort is motivated by the desire to generate empirical data to inform debates about reproducibility in scientometrics. Rather than attempt to reproduce studies, we explore how we might assess "in principle"

P‐glycoprotein modulates the fluidity gradient of the plasma membrane of multidrug resistant CHO cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
To explore the impact of the overexpression of the multidrug‐transporter P‐glycoprotein (ABCB1) on membrane fluidity, we compared the transversal gradient of mobility and microviscosity in plasma membranes of drug‐sensitive Chinese hamster ovary cells (AuxB1) and their multidrug‐resistant derivatives (B30) using the fluorescent n‐(9‐anthroyloxy) fatty ...

Reproducible Clusters from Microarray Research: Whither?

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2005
Motivation In cluster analysis, the validity of specific solutions, algorithms, and procedures present significant challenges because there is no null hypothesis to test and no 'right answer'.

Testbeds Support for Reproducible Research [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Reproducibility Workshop, 2017
In the context of experimental research, testbeds play an important role inenabling reproducibility of experiments, by providing a set of services thathelp experiments with setting up the experimental environment, and collectingdata about it. This paper explores the status of three different testbeds(Chameleon, CloudLab and Grid'5000) regarding ...

Reproducible Research is more than Publishing Research Artefacts: A Systematic Analysis of Jupyter Notebooks from Research Articles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
With the advent of Open Science, researchers have started to publish their research artefacts (i. e., data, software, and other products of the investigations) in order to allow others to reproduce their investigations. While this publication is beneficial for science in general, it often lacks a comprehensive documentation and completeness with ...

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...
