The Shape of the Trade-Off Function Between Reproduction and Future Performance in \u3cem\u3ePlantago major\u3c/em\u3e and \u3cem\u3ePlantago rugelii\u3c/em\u3e [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
There is a paucity of data describing the nature of the trade-off function between reproduction and future performance. Most studies implicitly assume it is a linear function such that allocation of resources to reproduction results in a proportional ...

Mechanisms linking nutrition and reproduction in postpartum cows.

open access: yesReproduction (Cambridge, England) Supplement, 2019
The reproductive physiology of postpartum cows is different from that of heifers because of the combined effects of the past pregnancy and lactation. Neither lactation nor pregnancy has a major effect on postpartum fertility when calving is free from ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

The Debt Financing of Parenthood [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Jacoby discusses the significant role of lenders in the parenthood market and how they might facilitate access and shape this industry in more profound ways. Second, she introduces the issue of financing assisted reproduction and adoption.

Monte Carlo Simulations of Sexual Reproduction

open access: yes, 1996
Modifying the Redfield model of sexual reproduction and the Penna model of biological aging, we compare reproduction with and without recombination in age-structured populations.

Neighbourhood choice and neighbourhood reproduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Although we know a lot about why households choose certain dwellings, we know relatively little about the mechanisms behind their choice of neighbourhood.

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Comparison Between Radiographic Vertebral Left Atrial Size (VLAS) and Echocardiographic Methods for Predicting Left Atrial Remodeling in Dogs With Mitral Valve Disease

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine International
Conclusions and Clinics Relevance: VLAS has a positive relationship and important correlation with the echocardiographic variables and MINE score. Associated with its higher accessibility in clinical routine is a potential diagnostic method to detect ...

Global dynamics of a periodic SEIRS model with general incidence rate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We consider a family of periodic SEIRS epidemic models with a fairly general incidence rate and it is shown the basic reproduction number determines the global dynamics of the models and it is a threshold parameter for persistence.
