Major dimensions of plant ecological strategies have been widely studied bringing forward the concept of 'economic spectra' of plants. Sexual reproductive traits, 'floral traits', have been largely neglected in this context, despite their strong link to ...

Whole-genome sequencing identifies potential candidate genes for reproductive traits in pigs.
Genomics, 2020Reproductive performance is a complex quantitative trait, that is determined by multiple genes, regulatory pathways and environmental factors. A list of major genes with large effect have been detected, although multiple QTLs are identified.

Reproductive traits in dicyemids
Marine Biology, 2003Several characters involved in the life cycle in dicyemids were examined to understand reproductive strategy and adaptations to cephalopod hosts. In most dicyemids distinctly small numbers of sperms are produced in a hermaphroditic gonad (infusorigen). The number of eggs and sperms are roughly equal (means of the number of sperm:egg=1:1.58). An inverse

Quantitative trait loci for male reproductive traits in beef cattle*
Animal Genetics, 2004SummaryThe objective of the present study was to detect quantitative trait loci (QTL) for male reproductive traits in a half‐sib family from a Bos indicus (Brahman) × Bos taurus (Hereford) sire. The sire was mated with MARC III (1/4 Hereford, 1/4 Angus, 1/4 Red Poll and 1/4 Pinzgauer) cows.

Genome-wide association study of four composite reproductive traits in Iranian fat-tailed sheep.
Reproduction, Fertility and Development, 2019Composite reproductive traits are a combination of growth and reproductive traits. They have the advantage of being better attuned to the market drivers since producers are paid on a per kilogram basis and not on a per head basis. In this study, 124 Lori-

Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 2011
ContentsThe overall objective of one of the major research programs in the Co‐operative Research Centre (CRC) for Beef Genetic Technologies is to ‘Improve female reproductive performance’ in tropical, northern Australian beef cattle herds. To address this overall objective, a quantitative genetics project focused on investigation of male reproductive ...

Reproductive Traits in Aquatic Animals
2005Controlled breeding is only possible if there is enough knowledge about the factors governing reproduction to close the reproductive cycle. Lack of such knowledge has prevented the establishment of breeding programs for several of the farmed species. The elements of controlled breeding, artificial fertilisation and hatchery rearing, must be possible ...

Reproductive, Traits, Holstein, Heritability, Repeatability
Journal of Veterinary Advances, 2014Data consisting of 2757 records from tow Holstein herds made between 2000 and 2010 were used to examine environmental factors affecting age at first calving (AFC) and calving intervals (CI) and consequently estimate genetic and phenotypic parameters and trends.

Reproductive traits in Nubian dairy goats
Animal Reproduction Science, 1983Abstract For 12 months, ten Nubian doe goats were examined daily for oestrus and blood was obtained twice weekly for serum progesterone (P) analysis. Before the onset of regular ovulatory cycles in the autumn, brief increases in serum P were noted. Ovulation without oestrus was associated with the onset of the breeding season in five of 13 instances.

Reproduction traits in the Boer goat doe
Small Ruminant Research, 2000The aim of this review is to give insight into the reproduction potential of the Boer goat doe. Assessment of the reproduction traits in the Boer goat doe demonstrates a mean body weight at puberty of between 30.6 and 27.5kg, depending on the dietary energy level.
