A New Method to Determine Antioxidant Activities of Biofilms Using a pH Indicator (Resazurin) Model System

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Biopolymeric films were prepared with gelatin, plasticizer, and three different types of antioxidants (ascorbic acid, phytic acid, and BHA) corresponding to different mechanisms in activity.

Development of an in vitro drug screening assay using Schistosoma haematobium schistosomula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: The development of novel antischistosomal drugs is crucial, as currently no vaccine and only a single drug is available for the treatment of schistosomiasis.

Mitochondrial Impairment May Increase Cellular NAD(P)H: Resazurin Oxidoreductase Activity, Perturbing the NAD(P)H-Based Viability Assays

open access: yesCells, 2015
Cellular NAD(P)H-dependent oxidoreductase activity with artificial dyes (NAD(P)H-OR) is an indicator of viability, as the cellular redox state is important for biosynthesis and antioxidant defense.

Resazurin and its derivatives.

open access: yes, 2013
Resazurin (A) is irreversibly reduced to fluorescent resorufin (B) by electrons liberated from hydrogen gas by [FeFe] hydrogenase. C12-resazurin (C) is identical to resazurin except for an additional hydrophobic twelve-carbon tail.

open access: yes, 2017
<p>There were 21 groups: 3 groups of transferrin alone in 3 different concentrations (1/3, 1, and 3 times of its MIC); 4 groups of antibiotics alone (ciprofloxacin and meropenem in 1/3 and 1 MIC concentration each), 6 combo groups for ciprofloxacin

Validation of a modified fluorimetric assay for the screening of trichomonacidal drugs

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2012
A fluorimetric microassay that uses a redox dye to determine the viability of the flagellate Trichomonas vaginalis has been optimised to provide a more sensitive method to evaluate potential trichomonacidal compounds.

On the relationship between the observed dynamics of a colorimetric indicator and the nonlinear dynamics of the population growth under study in the case of microbial cultures [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Прикладная нелинейная динамика
The resazurin test is one of the most widespread approaches for studying the growth and metabolic activity of microorganisms. It is based on the colour change of the blue indicator, resazurin, to its pink reduced form, resorufin due to the reduction ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
