Impact of a stakeholder selected implementation strategy package – fast tracking, provider re-training, and co-location – on PrEP implementation for pregnant women in antenatal care clinics in western Kenya

open access: yesImplementation Science Communications
Background Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is recommended for HIV prevention in pregnant and postpartum women at substantial ongoing risk for HIV. In resource-limited settings, there exist gaps in the integration of PrEP into antenatal care.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Tracing back primed resistance in cancer via sister cells

open access: yesNature Communications
Exploring non-genetic evolution of cell states during cancer treatments has become attainable by recent advances in lineage-tracing methods. However, transcriptional changes that drive cells into resistant fates may be subtle, necessitating high ...

SALSA: a regulator of the early steps of complement activation on mucosal surfaces

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2016
Complement is present mainly in blood. However, following mechanical damage or inflammation, serous exudates enter the mucosal surfaces. Here the complement proteins interact with other endogenous molecules to keep microbes from entering the parenteral ...

The Seinhorst Research Program

open access: yes, 1998
We propose the 'Seinhorst Research Program', derived from Seinhorst's empirical philosophy. All theories of the 'Seinhorst Research Program' are developed by searching for recurring regularities (patterns) in a collection of observations, named 'the empirical base'.
