Spatial development of brain networks during the first six postnatal months

open access: yesCommunications Biology
The early postnatal period is crucial for brain development and understanding neurodevelopmental disorders. This study examines spatial brain network development in early infancy, a less-explored area. Using independent component analysis on longitudinal

Estimating Probable Maximum Precipitation Based on Synoptic Method in Karaj River Basin [PDF]

open access: yesنشریه جغرافیا و برنامه‌ریزی, 2013
In this research five synoptic stations are selected including Mehrabad, Karaj, Gazvin, Ramsar and Noshahr. After analysis and processing of the parameters such as wind speed, dew point, pressure and storm coefficient data, PMP in continuation of 24 and ...

NeuroMark: An automated and adaptive ICA based pipeline to identify reproducible fMRI markers of brain disorders

open access: yesNeuroImage: Clinical, 2020
Many mental illnesses share overlapping or similar clinical symptoms, confounding the diagnosis. It is important to systematically characterize the degree to which unique and similar changing patterns are reflective of brain disorders. Increasing sharing

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Research involving children : recent developments and current trends in thinking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Children today hold an important place in society and are valued for what they offer. They represent society’s hopes for the future. Children in the western world have rights today, but historically this has not always been the case.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Chikungunya: an unusual vector-borne disease. Overview and new research trends [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Since the huge epidemic of Chikungunya in 2006 in Réunion Island and in India, and since the small outbreak in 2007 in Italy, a few Chikungunya cases were reported in september 2010 in the south-east of France, indicating that even northern and developed

Central bank misperceptions and the role of money in interest rate rules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Research with Keynesian-style models has emphasized the importance of the output gap for policies aimed at controlling inflation while declaring monetary aggregates largely irrelevant.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
