Systematic review of robotic liver resection

open access: yes, 2014
Robotic liver resection has emerged as a new modality in the field of minimally invasive surgery. However, the effectiveness of this approach for liver resection is not yet known. A literature survey was performed using specific search phrases in PubMed.

Combined analysis of preoperative circulating tumor cells status and tumor size to guide width of resection margin for solitary hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundThe optimal resection margin width for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to explore the value of preoperative circulating tumor cells (CTCs) status and tumor size in guiding the resection margin

VCP‐Regulated LMF2 Stabilizes the Cholesterol Biosynthesis Enzyme HMGCS1 to Drive Cancer Progression and Confer Capecitabine Resistance in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LMF2 drives progression and capecitabine resistance in triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC). Mechanistically, VCP prevents NBR1‐mediated autophagic degradation of LMF2, thereby stabilizing it. Stabilized LMF2 subsequently suppresses NDP52‐mediated autophagic degradation of HMGCS1, a rate‐limiting cholesterol biosynthesis enzyme.

The Characteristics of Tumor Microenvironment by the Single Cell Profile in Endometrial Cancer of no Specific Molecular Profile (NSMP) Subtype

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A subset of tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) characterized by SPP1 expression is discovered, which may remodel the tumor microenvironment by potentially promoting CD4+ T cell stress and maintaining epithelial cell stemness through SPP1‐CD44, thereby potentially contributing to the proliferation and migration of tumor cells, which has been verified ...

Therapeutic Peptide‐Programmed Liquid‐Crystalline Topology Switching for pH‐Gated Postoperative Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A VDAP‐programmed liquid‐crystalline depot enables pH‐responsive postoperative immunotherapy for triple‐negative breast cancer. VDAP stabilizes a leakage‐resistant HII mesophase through peptide–lipid electrostatic assembly, whereas tumor acidosis unlocks the matrix and promotes graded topology remodeling toward a bicontinuous Im3̄m cubic phase for ...

INFLUENCE OF RESECTION MARGIN ON SURVIVAL AND LIVER RECURRENCE FOLLOWING RESECTION FOR COLORECTAL LIVER METASTASES.

open access: yes, 2013
Introduction Recent studies have questioned the role of a positive resection margin (R1) as prognostic factor in hepatic resections of colorectal liver metastasis (CLM). The aim of this study was to evaluate the pattern of relapse and the impact of R1

Current Status and Challenges of Imaging‐Based Diagnosis of Lymph Node Metastasis in Colon Cancer: The Lymph Node Committee of the Japanese Society for Cancer of the Colon and Rectum

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This review of the status and challenges of diagnosis of lymph node metastasis in colon cancer suggests that it is currently difficult to establish strict criteria for lymph node metastasis, indicating only moderate diagnostic performance. ABSTRACT Background Accurate pre‐treatment evaluation of lymph node metastasis (LNM) in colon cancer is important ...

Comparison of Minimally Invasive Colectomy Between Intra‐ Versus Extra‐Corporeal Anastomosis Technique (COMMIT Study): Short‐Term Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This multicenter propensity score‐matched study of 3213 patients compared intracorporeal (IA) and extracorporeal (EA) anastomosis during minimally invasive colectomy. IA was associated with a significantly lower incidence of intraoperative blood loss ≥ 200 mL (2.5% vs.

Redefining the Role of Splenectomy in Scirrhous Gastric Cancer: Toward a Selective Multimodal Strategy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Scirrhous gastric cancer, characterized by diffuse infiltration and a high propensity for peritoneal dissemination, remains one of the most aggressive subtypes of gastric cancer. Despite a relatively high incidence of splenic hilar lymph node (No. 10) metastasis, the oncologic benefit of splenectomy remains controversial, while its association
