The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Residual-Based Implicit Neural Representation for Synthetic Aperture Radar Images

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Implicit neural representations (INRs) are a new way to represent all kinds of signals ranging from 1D audio to 3D shape signals, among which 2D images are the most widely explored due to their ubiquitous presence.

A Sum&Discount method for appraising firms:An illustrative example [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents a new way of valuing firms and measuring residual income. The method, originally introduced in Magni (2000a, 2000b, 2000c, 2001), is here renamed lost-capital paradigm.

Quantifying residual finiteness

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2010
We introduce the concept of quantifying the extent to which a finitely generated group is residually finite. The quantification is carried out for some examples including free groups, the first Grigorchuk group, finitely generated nilpotent groups, and certain arithmetic groups such as $SL_n(\mathbb{Z})$.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

EAMR-Net: A multiscale effective spatial and cross-channel attention network for retinal vessel segmentation

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering
Delineation of retinal vessels in fundus images is essential for detecting a range of eye disorders. An automated technique for vessel segmentation can assist clinicians and enhance the efficiency of the diagnostic process.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Outlier Diagnostic in Geodetic Intersection

open access: yesCivil and Environmental Engineering, 2014
Residuals are differences between observed and predicted variables. This paper describes outlier detection method with using studentized internal and external residuals, which was applied to find extreme values in dataset that comes from the planar ...
