Calculation of sub-surface-initiated fatigue fractures in gears [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Power-transmitting gears are typically heat-treated, most often case-hardened, to improve the fatigue strength and therefore to ensure higher fatigue life.

Preferences of Pediatric Patients and Their Caregivers for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Control Endpoints: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

Toric residues

open access: yesArkiv för Matematik, 1996
In ${\bf C}^{n+1}$, one can show that the residue of $n+1$ homogeneous forms of the same degree equals the integral of a certain $(n,n)$ form over ${\bf P}^n$. Furthermore, the Jacobian of the forms has nonzero residue equal to a certain intersection number. In this paper, we generalize these results to an arbitrary projective toric variety.

Intravitreal GD2‐Specific Chimeric Antigen Receptor T‐Cell Therapy for Refractory Retinoblastoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Effective treatments for advanced, treatment‐resistant retinoblastoma (RB) remain limited. GD2‐specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells show potent antitumor activity with minimal toxicity but have not previously been evaluated in RB.

Outcomes of Live Virus Vaccination in Patients With Vascular Anomalies Being Treated With Sirolimus

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Live vaccination in patients with vascular anomalies (VA) receiving sirolimus remains controversial due to immunosuppressive effects and theoretical risks. Procedure This single‐center retrospective study included patients with VA less than 4 years old at the start of sirolimus therapy who were incompletely vaccinated.

Superior Mesenteric Artery First Approach versus Conventional Pancreaticoduodenectomy in Periampullary Adenocarcinomas: A Single Institutional Observational Study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Periampullary malignancies represent a group of malignancies at and around the ampulla of Vater, whose clinical features and management are similar, with Pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD, Whipple procedure) being the standard surgical treatment.

Considerations for Measuring Activity-Dependence of Recruitment of Synaptic Vesicles to the Readily Releasable Pool

open access: yesFrontiers in Synaptic Neuroscience, 2019
The connection strength of most chemical synapses changes dynamically during normal use as a function of the recent history of activity. The phenomenon is known as short-term synaptic plasticity or synaptic dynamics, and is thought to be involved in ...

Preliminary study on fault detection using artificial neural network for water-cooled reactors

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2020
In the PUSPATI TRIGA reactor (RTP), many variables and instruments need to be monitored to make sure it is functioning and running accordingly. The late detection of faults may result in accidents and affect workers’ safety and health.

Residual Energies after Slow Quantum Annealing

open access: yes, 2005
Features of the residual energy after the quantum annealing are investigated. The quantum annealing method exploits quantum fluctuations to search the ground state of classical disordered Hamiltonian.
