Effects of heat treatment processes on microstructural evolution and magnetic properties in medium-carbon low-alloy semi-hard magnetic steels

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng
To obtain Fe-based medium-carbon low-alloy semi-hard magnetic steels with high residual magnetic flux density Br, five distinct heat treatment processes are employed: full annealing, air quenching (AQ), water quenching (WQ), air quenching followed by ...

Employing high-temperature gas flux in a residual salt separation technique for pyroprocessing

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2019
Residual salt separation is an essential step in pyroprocessing because its reaction products, as prepared by electrochemical unit processes, contain frozen residual electrolyte species, which are generally composed of alkali-metal chloride salts (e.g ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Effect of Carbon and TiO₂ on Fluidity of Mold Flux

open access: yesTeshugang, 2006
The effect of C content(8.39%~14.20%)and TiO₂(0.35%) on fluidity of mold flux-21.98~ 27.93 CaO,32.03~43.20 SiO₂,4.58~5.83 Al₂O₃ at 1120~1200℃has been studied. The results showed that residual carbon in flux and TiO₂ in flux which was produced by Ti ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Standard Parameter Generation Strategy for Power Transformer Residual Flux Detection and Verification Platform

open access: yesEnergies
Residual magnetism in power transformer cores can cause severe inrush currents, threatening grid safety. The accuracy of residual magnetism testers depends on reference values from calibration platforms, yet current calibration platforms suffer from ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Residual Stress Distribution in Thermally Sprayed Self-Fluxing Alloy Coatings

open access: yesMATERIALS TRANSACTIONS, 2005
The self-fluxing alloy was thermal sprayed by using combustion flame spraying (FS) and high energy plasma spraying (HPS) as well as high velocity oxy-fuel spraying (HVOF) processes under different combustion chamber pressures of 0.56, 0.70 and 0.84 MPa. As-sprayed HVOF (0.56 MPa) coating contained a large amount of non-melted particles. Whereas, the as-

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
