Residual Deterrence [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Economic Association, 2018
AbstractSuccesses of law enforcement in apprehending offenders are often publicized events. Such events have been found to result in temporary reductions in offending, or “residual deterrence”. We provide a theory of residual deterrence that accounts for the incentives of both enforcement officials and potential offenders.

Forecasting residue–residue contact prediction accuracy [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2017
Abstract Motivation Apart from meta-predictors, most of today's methods for residue–residue contact prediction are based entirely on Direct Coupling Analysis (DCA) of correlated mutations in multiple sequence alignments (MSAs).

Determination of imidacloprid in brinjal and okra fruits, decontamination and its dietary risk assessment

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Brinjal and okra are being sprayed withdifferent formulations of imidacloprid which leads to significant deposition of residues on fruits. Here in this study, we validated a method that could detect the traces of imidacloprid residues in a short run time

Exposure risk and environmental impacts of glyphosate: Highlights on the toxicity of herbicide co-formulants

open access: yesEnvironmental Challenges, 2021
Glyphosate is an extensively used herbicide globally. Its use dates back to 1970s with increasing numbers over the years. It is an effective weed killer but since it parallelly destroys non-target crops, its use during initial days was restricted.

Determination of Avermectins Residues in Soybean, Bean, and Maize Using a QuEChERS-Based Method and Ultra-High-Performance Liquid Chromatography Coupled to Tandem Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesSeparations, 2021
Soybean, maize, and bean are crops of great economic importance, but in recent years have suffered with infestations of the caterpillar Helicoverpa armigera, with the main reason being the resistance of this pest to most pesticides.

Residual momentum [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Empirical Finance, 2009
Conventional momentum strategies exhibit substantial time-varying exposures to the Fama and French factors. We show that these exposures can be reduced by ranking stocks on residual stock returns instead of total returns. As a consequence, residual momentum earns risk-adjusted profits that are about twice as large as those associated with total return ...

Residual Equisingularity [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1976
Let V V be a complex analytic set and Sg ⁡ V \operatorname {Sg} V the singular set of V V be in codimension one; then the set of points of Sg ⁡ V \operatorname {Sg} V for which V V is not residually equisingular ...

Immobilised TiO2 application for pesticides degradation using a solar still

open access: yesCleaner Engineering and Technology, 2021
Pesticides are recalcitrant contaminants, which are bioaccumulative in nature. A good number of pesticides, particularly organochlorines, have been listed among the Persistent Organic Pollutant list of Stockholm convention. Organochlorine pesticides were
