A note on the evaluation of a beta-casein variant in bovine breeds by allele-specific PCR and relevance to β-casomorphin [PDF]
peer-reviewedThis work was supported by Enterprise Ireland and by a Teagasc Walsh fellowship to A.F. Keating. Two genetic variants of the bovine β-casein gene (A1 and B) encode a histidine residue at codon 67, resulting in potential liberation of a ...

Influence of straw residue cover on the sprouting and yield of spring cereals in direct seeding on clay soil in Southern Finland [PDF]
In normal years when there is no insufficiency of water, 2-4 t/ha is an adequate amount of straw residue to cereals on soil surface in direct seeding, but if the beginning of growth season is very dry, a thicker straw residue cover is better. The obverse

Residue Classes Having Tardy Totients
We show, in an effective way, that there exists a sequence of congruence classes $a_k\pmod {m_k}$ such that the minimal solution $n=n_k$ of the congruence $\phi(n)\equiv a_k\pmod {m_k}$ exists and satisfies $\log n_k/\log m_k\to\infty $ as $k\to\infty ...

The Riesz $z$-energy of a manifold $X$ is the integration of the distance between two points to the power $z$ over the product space $X\times X$. Considered as a function of a complex variable $z$, it can be generalized to a meromorphic function by analytic continuation, which we will call the meromorphic energy function of $X$.

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Wilms tumour (WT) has excellent event‐free and overall survival (OS). However, small differences exist between countries participating in the same international study. This led us to examine variation in adherence to protocol recommendations as a potential contributing factor.

Toric Residue Mirror Conjecture for Calabi-Yau complete intersections [PDF]
We generalize the toric residue mirror conjecture of Batyrev and Materov to not necessarily reflexive polytopes. Using this generalization we prove the toric residue mirror conjecture for Calabi-Yau complete intersections in Gorenstein toric Fano ...

Residue currents of holomorphic morphisms
Given a generically surjective holomorphic vector bundle morphism $f\colon E\to Q$, $E$ and $Q$ Hermitian bundles, we construct a current $R^f$ with values in $\Hom(Q,H)$, where $H$ is a certain derived bundle, and with support on the set $Z$ where $f ...

ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.
