When is a residue not a residue?
Veterinary Record, 1988Residues of veterinary products in food animals have been the subject of much debate in recent years. This paper attempts to define and classify what is meant by the term 'residue' and to discuss the toxicological significance of various types of residues and how they may be controlled to ensure that no hazard results to consumers.

Unbalanced quadratic residues and non-residues
Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 1985Let p be an odd prime, and let g(p) denote the least integer z such that \(\sum_{p\leq z}(\frac{n}{p})=0\). The authors conjecture that \(g(p)=p-1\) for infinitely many p, but this appears very difficult. They prove that \(g(p)>\exp ((\log p)^{1/2-\epsilon})\) for infinitely many p. This improves a result of \textit{D. Wolke} [Monatsh. Math.

Residual requirements and architectural residues
Proceedings Fifth IEEE International Symposium on Requirements Engineering, 2002Monitoring running systems is a useful technique available to requirements engineers, to ensure that systems meet their requirements and in some cases to ensure that they obey the assumptions under which they were created. This report studies relationships between the original requirements and the monitoring infrastructure.

DISTRIBUTION OF AMINO ACID RESIDUES AND RESIDUE-RESIDUE CONTACTS IN MOLECULAR CHAPERONES
Preparative Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2001The amino acid distribution and residue-residue contacts in molecular chaperones are different when compared to normal globular proteins. The study of molecular chaperones reveals a different surrounding environment to exist for the residues Cys, Trp, and His which may play an important role in determining the chaperone structures.

This article deals with models deduced from a latent regression model by a nonlinear mapping (probit, tobit, disequilibrium models). In this context simulated residuals are defined whose role is similar to that of usual residuals in the regression model.

The distribution of quadratic residues and non‐residues
Mathematika, 1957The author proves the following: Theorem 1. Let \(\delta\) and \(\varepsilon\) be any fixed positive numbers. Then, for all sufficiently large \(p\) and any \(N\), we have \[ \left\vert \sum_{n=N+1}^{N+H} \left(\frac{n}{p}\right)\right\vert < \varepsilon H \] provided \(H > p^{1/4+\delta}\). \(\left(\frac{n}{p}\right)\) is the Legendre symbol and \(p\)

Wherever we live, in the affluent West, in emerging economies or in the poorest countries, the increasing presence of waste is a common experience that triggered many design experiments. Environmental sustainability is obviously the narrative glue which keeps together these researches, but it does not explain alone the attitude of waste and its ...

A Note on the Distribution of Residues and Non-Residues
Journal of the London Mathematical Society, 1963A slight improvement is made over a previous result [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (3) 12, 179--192 (1962; Zbl 0106.04003), theorem 2] of the author in the theorem. If \(\chi\) is a non-principal character to the prime modulus \(p\) and \(\chi(n) = \omega\) for \(H\) consecutive values of \(n\), then \(H\ll p^{\frac14} \log p\).
