Immunoperoxidase reactions in resin embedded sections.

A simple reproducible and reliable schedule for the immunoperoxidase demonstration of various substances in resin embedded sections is described. It has been applied to a variety of epithelial membrane antigens in carcinoma of the colon and to blood group substances.

Dehydrogenase enzyme histochemistry on freezedried or fixed resin-embedded tissue

A method has been developed for the histochemical demonstration of a variety of dehydrogenases in freeze-dried or fixed resin-embedded tissue. Seven dehydrogenases were studied. Lactate dehydrogenase, NADH dehydrogenase and NADPH tetrazolium reductase were all demonstrable in sections of paraformaldehyde-fixed resin-embedded tissue.

Abstract For routine evaluation of experimental or clinical changes, osmium-impregnated peripheral nerves generally are embedded in epoxy resins and stained with toluidine blue or paraphenylenediamine (PPD). Silver methods, which reveal nerve axons, also have been applied to paraffin or frozen sections for this assessment.

The composition is: ERL-4206 (vinyl cyclohexene dioxide) 10 g, D.E.R. 736 (diglycidyl ether of polypropylene glycol) 6 g, NSA (nonenyl succinic anhydride) 26 g, and S-1 (dimethylaminoethanol or DMAE) 0.4 g.
