Ecophysiology of Antarctic Vascular Plants: An Update on the Extreme Environment Resistance Mechanisms and Their Importance in Facing Climate Change

open access: yes
Antarctic flowering plants have become enigmatic because of their unique capability to colonize Antarctica. It has been shown that there is not a single trait that makes Colobanthus quitensis and Deschampsia antarctica so special, but rather a set of ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Resistance to Change Within Education

open access: yes, 2004
Teachers often are resistant to hierarchal changes in education and curriculum potentially resulting in unsatisfactory and inefficient implementation of new programs. How can change be received in a positive way, rather than met with resistance? Is there

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

OPTIMAL PESTICIDE USAGE WITH RESISTANCE AND ENDOGENOUS TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE

open access: yes
This paper develops a model analyzing the first best policy for a social planner when pesticide use causes resistance, the level of pest infestation is heterogeneous among farmers, and the development of a backstop technology is an endogenous and ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

School culture and resistance to change

open access: yesTendencias Pedagógicas, 2015
This work analyzes the characteristics of the resistance to the processes of change through the following conditions: the school is the change unit, it's necessary people concerned with the change, those agents need autonomy and power, it's necessary an ...
