Salt tolerance and modification of wheat salt resistance by plant hormones

open access: yes, 2004
Philosophiae Doctor - PhDThe history of salt tolerance and the factors effecting salt resistance of plants were literature surveyed, and it was concluded that ion concentration, salt accumulation, compatible solutes and the genetic traits play a major ...

Transgenic resistance to pathogens and pests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Pathogens and pests constantly threaten plants and cause crop losses of significant economic importance for agricultural production worldwide. One way to reduce the damage caused by pathogens and pests is the development of new, resistant cultivars ...

Salt priming improved salt tolerance in sweet sorghum by enhancing osmotic resistance and reducing root Na+ uptake

open access: yes, 2015
This study attempted to explore how salt priming affected salt tolerance in sweet sorghum with emphasis on root Na+ uptake. After 10 days of pretreatment with 150 mM NaCl, plants were stressed with 300 mM NaCl. After salt stress for 7 days, dry matter of

Identification of hotspots of crop wild relatives in Germany to promote their in situ conservation in a network of genetic reserves

open access: yesBotanical Studies
Background Crop wild relatives (CWR) represent a valuable resource for ensuring food security. Although they are negatively affected by the loss of habitats due to climate change and land use change, they are underrepresented in conservation programmes ...

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

_M. tuberculosis_ interactome analysis unravels potential pathways to drug resistance

open access: yes, 2008
Drug resistance is a major problem for combating tuberculosis. Lack of understanding of how resistance emerges in bacteria upon drug treatment limits our ability to counter resistance.

Genomic loci for priming-induced powdery mildew resistance and plant biomass in wheat

open access: yesCurrent Plant Biology
Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici (Bgt), the causal agent of powdery mildew in wheat, poses a serious threat to yield stability. Although several resistance genes have been identified, many became ineffective due to pathogen adaptation.
