Numerical simulation and optimization of dry bead mill based on DEM [PDF]
To decouple the effects of geometric and operational parameters on dry grinding performance, we resolved the single-phase particle field of a dry bead mill employing discrete element method simulations.

Simulation of particle formation and number concentration over the Eastern United States with the WRF-Chem + APM model [PDF]
Aerosol nucleation events, widely observed at various locations around the globe, are a significant source of cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) which determines aerosol indirect radiative forcing.

Efficient methods for particle-resolved direct numerical simulation
In the present chapter we focus on the fundamentals of non-grid-conforming numerical approaches to simulating particulate flows, implementation issues and grid convergence vs. available reference data. The main idea is to avoid adapting the mesh (and - as much as possible - the discrete operators) to the time-dependent fluid domain with the aim to ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Particle-resolved simulation of the pyrolysis process of a single plastic particle
Abstract Particle-resolved simulations have been performed to study the pyrolysis process of a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) particle in an inert hot nitrogen flow. The simulations resolve the velocity and temperature boundary layers around the particle, as well as the gradients of temperature and concentration within the particle.
