Photo-Detectors Integrated with Resonant Tunneling Diodes [PDF]
We report on photo-detectors consisting of an optical waveguide that incorporates a resonant tunneling diode (RTD). Operating at wavelengths around 1.55 μm in the optical communications C band we achieve maximum sensitivities of around 0.29 A/W which is ...

Integration of resonant band with asymmetry in ferroelectric tunnel junctions
We propose that the asymmetry-induced tunneling electroresistance (TER) effect in a ferroelectric tunnel junction (FTJ) could be improved by integrating a polarization-controlled resonant band. Using first-principles calculations and a quantum-mechanical

Reentrant resonant tunneling [PDF]
We study the effect of electron-electron interactions on the resonant-tunneling spectroscopy of the localized states in a barrier. Using a simple model of three localized states, we show that, due to the Coulomb interactions, a single state can give rise to two resonant peaks in the conductance as a function of gate voltage, G(Vg).

Resonance enhanced tunneling [PDF]
Time evolution of tunneling in thermal medium is examined using the real-time semiclassical formalism previously developed. Effect of anharmonic terms in the potential well is shown to give a new mechanism of resonance enhanced tunneling. If the friction from environment is small enough, this mechanism may give a very large enhancement for the ...

Resonance-Assisted Tunneling [PDF]
We present evidence that tunneling processes in near-integrable systems are enhanced due to the manifestation of nonlinear resonances and their respective island chains in phase space. A semiclassical description of this \"resonance-assisted\" mechanism is given, which is based on a local perturbative description of the dynamics in the vicinity of the ...

Resonant inelastic tunneling using multiple metallic quantum wells
Tunnel nanojunctions based on inelastic electron tunneling (IET) have been heralded as a breakthrough for ultra-fast integrated light sources. However, the majority of electrons tend to tunnel through a junction elastically, resulting in weak photon ...
