Using the Honey Bee (Apis mellifera L.) Cell Line AmE‐711 to Evaluate Insecticide Toxicity

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Volume 42, Issue 1, Page 88-99, January 2023., 2023
Abstract One of the main contributors to poor productivity and elevated mortality of honey bee colonies globally is insecticide exposure. Whole‐organism and colony‐level studies have demonstrated the effects of insecticides on many aspects of honey bee biology and have also shown their interactions with pathogens.

In situ Raman Spectroscopy of Supported Catalytically Active Liquid Metal Solutions (SCALMS) – Activation and Coking Behavior in Propane Dehydrogenation

open access: yesChemCatChem, Accepted Article.
Supported catalytically active liquid metal solutions (SCALMS) represent a new class of catalysts characterized by a highly dynamic catalytic interface due to the liquid state of the active phase. In this study, we have investigated the relevance of H2 pre‐reduction treatment of Ga‐Pt SCALMS in propane dehydrogenation reaction (PDH).

Strategies towards synthesis and conversion of lignin model compounds

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
The push towards a renewable society where the chemicals being used on a daily basis come from sources which are not going to be depleted within the next few decades is highly sought after. Biomass is one of the most promising opportunities to establish self‐sustainability for the human race.

Highly‐selective Electrochemical Decarboxylative Late‐Stage Functionalization of Amino Acids

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
A unified electrochemical decarboxylative strategy for the site‐selective construction of carbon‐heteroatom bonds is disclosed herein. The metal‐ and catalyst‐free decarboxylation provides access to functionalization of C‐ and N‐terminus from simple amino acid feedstock.

The local health impacts of natural resource booms

open access: yesHealth Economics, Volume 32, Issue 2, Page 462-500, February 2023., 2023
Abstract This paper uses novel micro‐data on natural resources and administrative health data in Brazil to study how economic booms in minerals affect health at birth. By implementing a reduced‐form estimation of shift‐share research designs, the identification strategy relies on the exogeneity of global commodity prices to municipality‐specific health

Improved C5‐amide bioisosteres for human neuraminidase 1 inhibitors based on 2‐deoxy‐2,3‐didehydro‐N‐acetyl neuraminic acid (DANA)

open access: yesChemMedChem, Accepted Article.
Neuraminidase enzymes (NEU) play a crucial role in many physiological and pathological conditions. Humans have four isoenzymes of NEU and their specific roles continue to be investigated. Isoenzyme‐selective inhibitors are needed as research tools and may lead to future therapeutics.
