Dynamic Reserves for Managing Wind Power [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In this paper, we suggest that reserves must be computed dynamically to account for wind power volatility. We formalize the notion of dynamic reserves in support of sequential Day-Ahead-Market (DAM) and Real-Time-Market (RTM) clearing and discuss several ways of accounting for wind power uncertainties.

A Column Generation Approach for Radiation Therapy Patient Scheduling with Planned Machine Unavailability and Uncertain Future Arrivals [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The number of cancer cases per year is rapidly increasing worldwide. In radiation therapy (RT), radiation from linear accelerators is used to kill malignant tumor cells. Scheduling patients for RT is difficult both due to the numerous medical and technical constraints, and because of the stochastic inflow of patients with different urgency levels.

A verifiable multi-party quantum key distribution protocol based on repetitive codes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A multi-party quantum key distribution protocol based on repetitive code is designed for the first time in this paper. First we establish a classical (t, n) threshold protocol which can authenticate the identity of the participants, and encode the classical key sequence in accordance with this repetitive code. Then unitary transformation of the quantum

Long‐Lasting Auditory and Vestibular Recovery Following Gene Replacement Therapy in a Novel Usher Syndrome Type 1c Mouse Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that gene replacement therapy using the AAV2/Anc80L65 virus can successfully restore hearing and balance in Ush1c knockout mice. The treatment leads to lasting improvements in both auditory and vestibular functions, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic approach for genetic hearing loss and vestibular disorders in humans ...
